Missing Mexico

Friday, December 26, 2014

5 days ago, I had the pleasure of being my boyfriend's + 1 to his job's annual Christmas party. Now this is not your ordinary corporate holiday bash - this was a 4-days-3-nights all inclusive celebration in Cancun, Mexico.

Power Home Remodeling Group has been a reliable name in energy efficient windows, roofing, siding, and doors for over 22 years. Not only are there 15 different locations nationwide, but they're expanding as well.

With $2 million spent on a phenomenal, complimentary, overseas holiday party for Power HRG employees, friends, significant others, and families, I know what you're thinking: sign me up! But - being lucky enough to be a part of this company's trip has made me realize how tough, yet rewarding it is to be a member of Power's family. Because this company is trusted by over 125,000 homeowners nationwide, I see that they give back what their employees put in - and to me, that is gratifying.

Upon landing, tons of Hotel Paradisus staff were waiting with shuttles from the airport to the resort. The drivers matched our names to our luggage so that they could deliver our belongings to our rooms without the hassle of us wasting any time after check-in. While walking downstairs to Power's personal check in, we were greeted with an appetizer buffet, good music, and tropical drinks handed to us. After a few frozen drinks deep, we went to our room to discover an ocean view.

Paradisus was rented out solely to Power Home Remodeling Group - and the resort's theme turned into "Powerdisus". The company logo was everywhere - from the bracelets given to us as wristbands, to the logo hanging from the ceiling on ginormous balloons, to entrance doors.

I can't explain how much the staff catered to us. There were buffets and bars at every angle of the resort as well as pre-tipped servers walking around. Is there such thing as a relaxing shit show? Because that's what this was.

The first night, Power HRG planned a neon-tribal party at the hotel which included a cocktail hour, buffet, and reception. They provided breathtaking props with a surprise performance by Sublime, followed by after hours.

The second day, Powerdisus held a pool party with a DJ, games, booze, and you guessed it - a buffet. They gave away neon Power hats, leis, pool floats, and more. Not to mention after I nearly drowned in the ocean and had to get pulled out by a Maryland Power employee. The currant in Cancun is no joke.

Pool party by day, city by night. Powerdisus provided shuttles for us to and from the club Coco Bongo in the city of Cancun, also drink inclusive, and it was an incredible night. Power even planned a guest performer - LL Cool J.

Power Olympics was held on day 3 and was split into 15 teams by color for each company's location. Although they held various events and matches, Long Island came in 3rd.

The whole vacation was incredible and Power couldn't have chose a better resort, let alone the Grade A staff. It was a pleasure being a guest and I hope I'm privileged to get an invite next year!
